CPF retirement sums by the year you turn 55
At 55, CPF sets aside savings in your Retirement Account (RA) to pay CPF LIFE from 65. The amount depends on the year you turn 55. The Full Retirement Sum is the default; property owners whose lease lasts to at least 95 can set aside the Basic Retirement Sum instead, and anyone 55 or older can top up to the Enhanced Retirement Sum.

No estimate below S$50,000
CPF's payout table starts at S$50,000 in the RA at 55. Separately, CPF LIFE includes you automatically only if you have at least S$60,000 in retirement savings when your payouts start, not at 55. With less, CPF pays you monthly until your savings run out, unless you choose to join. Use the official CPF LIFE Estimator for smaller balances.

An estimate, not financial advice. The range interpolates between CPF's published payout figures for the Standard Plan: the upper figure follows CPF's June 2026 table (for a male member), the lower figure follows the low end of CPF's 2025 payout ranges. From S$50,000 to just under S$60,000 only the June 2026 table has a figure, so you see one figure. Your actual payout depends on your gender, plan, top-up timing and CPF's rates. Check the official CPF LIFE Estimator before you decide anything.
Worked example
Illustrative only. Someone aged 54 in 2026 turns 55 in 2027, when the Full Retirement Sum is S$228,200.
- Setting aside the FRS of S$228,200 gives an estimated S$1,720 to S$1,840 a month from 65.
- Topping up S$50,000 more at 55 (RA S$278,200) lifts that to S$2,070 to S$2,220.
- The most they can top up to is the ERS of S$456,400, which is four times the BRS.
How the estimate works
CPF publishes payouts for set amounts in the RA at 55 rather than a formula. We read your amount between CPF's published points.
- The age you turn this year sets the year you turn 55, which sets your BRS, FRS and ERS. CPF has announced them up to 2027; for later years we show projected sums, labelled as projections (how).
- Top-ups are counted as if made at 55 and capped at the ERS. A top-up made later earns less interest before 65, so this reads a little high for it.
- CPF's tables already assume your RA keeps earning interest from 55 to 65, so we add no growth of our own.

How we project the sums after 2027
CPF announces each cohort's retirement sums a few years ahead. For anyone turning 55 after 2027, we project the BRS from its own history: the average yearly increase from 2022 to 2027 was 3.5% (compound annual growth over the 5 yearly increases). The projected BRS is the 2027 BRS grown at that rate, rounded to the nearest S$100 as CPF does.
| Turning 55 in | BRS | Change on the year before |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Jul 2015 to 2016 | S$80,500 | First year of the scheme |
| 2017 | S$83,000 | +3.1% (over 18 months) |
| 2018 | S$85,500 | +3.0% |
| 2019 | S$88,000 | +2.9% |
| 2020 | S$90,500 | +2.8% |
| 2021 | S$93,000 | +2.8% |
| 2022 | S$96,000 | +3.2% |
| 2023 | S$99,400 | +3.5% |
| 2024 | S$102,900 | +3.5% |
| 2025 | S$106,500 | +3.5% |
| 2026 | S$110,200 | +3.5% |
| 2027 | S$114,100 | +3.5% |
- The FRS stays 2 times and the ERS 4 times the BRS, as under today's rules.
- Projected payouts keep today's CPF LIFE payout per dollar: we read your amount against CPF's 2026 payout table at the same position relative to your cohort's sums. That holds only if CPF's interest rates and life expectancy assumptions stay where they are.
- Projected payouts are in future dollars. We also show them in today's dollars, assuming prices rise 2% a year, the rate in CPF's own example that S$1,000 a month today is about S$1,500 in 20 years.
- None of this is an official figure. CPF's announcement replaces it when it comes.
