How to use a PayNow QR
- Make it here with your PayNow mobile number. Add the amount so your friend pays exactly that, and a reference so you can spot the payment.
- Show or send it. Your friend scans it in their banking app, or saves the image and opens it from their gallery.
- They check the name, then pay. Their app shows the name registered to your number. The money goes straight from their bank to yours.

PayNow QR questions, answered
How do I generate a PayNow QR code?
Type the mobile number registered for PayNow. Add an amount if you want the payer to send an exact sum, and a reference such as DINNER so you can spot the payment. The QR appears straight away; show it on your screen or save it as an image.
What will my friend see when they scan it?
Their banking app looks your number up in PayNow and shows the name registered to it, plus the amount and reference. They should check that name is yours before they pay.
Is it safe? Do you store my number?
The QR is built in your browser and the number is never sent to us or saved. We never touch the payment either: it goes from your friend’s bank to yours through PayNow.
Can I fix the amount so the payer cannot change it?
Yes. Enter an amount and the QR asks for exactly that, unless you tick "Let them change the amount". With no amount, the payer types it in.
Can I use my NRIC or a business UEN instead?
Not here. This tool makes personal PayNow QR codes from a mobile number. PayNow QR codes for a UEN are for businesses, and we could not find a documented way to put an NRIC in a PayNow QR.
Why does a QR not work for my friend?
Most often the number is not registered for PayNow, or is registered with a different bank account than you expect. Check your PayNow settings in your own banking app, then make the QR again.
