Planning as a couple

Invite your partner and you're both looking at the same plan.

Short answer

Once your partner accepts your invite, your two accounts join into one shared household and one plan. CPF, income and insurance are entered per person. The plan, net worth and goals are shared, and a switch lets you view Us, You or Partner.

Your partner gets their own 14-day trial from when they create their account, then free read-only access.

How does a couple household work?

Every account starts alone. Once your partner accepts, your two accounts join into one shared household and plan: no separate copy, and any change either of you makes is there for the other next time.

The app still tells you apart. CPF, income and insurance are entered per person, and you can switch a tab between your figures, your partner’s, or the household total (see Switching between Us, You and Partner). What is shared is the plan itself: one net worth, one set of goals, one projection.

Your partner gets their own 14-day trial, counted from when they create their account, then free read-only access. That is usually when they accept your invite. If they already had an account, days already used count. They can edit the plan with you during their trial. After it ends, they can still see everything, but editing again needs a subscription of their own.

How do I invite my partner?

Open your Profile page and its Household section’s “Invite partner” tile. The dialog explains what accepting means before you send anything: “Send your partner a link to co-own this plan. They sign in or create an account to join.”

Tap “Create invite link” for a shareable link with a “Copy link” button. It works once and expires in 7 days.

Reopen the dialog while an invite is still pending and you will not get a second link: “You’ve invited your partner. They haven’t used the link yet.” Lost the link? Cancel it and create a new one.

What does my partner see when they claim the invite?

Your partner sees a preview first: who invited them, and “Join to co-own their plan.” Not signed in yet, the button reads “Sign in or create an account”, and creating one keeps the invite. Already signed in, it reads “Join their plan”. Either way, “Not now” lets them hold off.

Joining while they already have a plan of their own means giving it up, so the app asks first:

  • An untouched start shows “Replace your empty plan?”, with “Cancel” or “Delete my plan and join”.
  • A plan with real numbers shows “Discard the plan on this account?”, spelling out that joining deletes it for good. “Keep my plan” backs out, and “Delete my plan and join” confirms it.

An expired, used or broken link says so plainly: “This invite link no longer works. Ask for a new one.” Or, with part of the link missing, “This invite link is incomplete. Ask for a new one.” Each comes with a “Go to my plan” button.

Why does the plan say “You” for each of us?

You always see yourself labelled “You”, and your partner labelled “Partner” or their name. Open the same dashboard on their device and the labels flip: they are “You”, you are “Partner”.

The plan does not change between you: same numbers, same projection. Only the label depends on who is looking.

How do I switch between Us, You and Partner?

On a couple plan, a switch at the top of the tab lets you look at the household as “Us”, or at just “You” or “Partner” (shown with your names). It is on Home, Tracking, Cashflow and Investment. The plan dashboard and What-if have the same switch. It does not appear on a single plan.

  • Each tab opens on you. The first view is the signed-in person’s own. An advisor, who is not one of the two, sees the household.
  • Each tab remembers its own choice. Switching Cashflow to Us does not move Investment. The choice lasts for the session, and every tab opens on you again next time.
  • Your view is your accounts plus the joint ones. Joint accounts and transactions show in full, marked “Joint”, not as a half share. Partner shows your partner’s accounts plus the joint ones.
  • Some things stay with the household. The plan itself, and plan checks against it, use both of you. In a personal view, the app tells you to switch to Us for those.

Can I import a statement for my partner?

Either of you can import a statement for the other. When you import one, the “For” choice asks whose it is: you, your partner, or “Joint”. The app picks the likely owner from the account it matches, and you can change it.

If you pick your partner, a banner reads “Importing for Mei. Mei will see “Added by Darren”.“ with the names filled in. Their rows then show “Added by” and your name, and on Cashflow your partner sees a banner saying you added their statement, which they can dismiss. There is no approval step. Either of you can correct the rows afterwards.

See Importing a statement for the steps.

Working with a financial advisor

Your advisor’s access is its own topic: see Managing your advisor’s access.

How do I invite my partner?

Open your Profile page, then the Household section and the "Invite partner" tile. Tap "Create invite link", then "Copy link". The link works once and expires in 7 days.

Can my partner edit the plan?

During their 14-day trial, yes. After it ends they can still see everything, but editing again needs a subscription of their own.

Does the Us, You, Partner switch hide anything?

No. It is a view, not a privacy setting. Your partner can switch to your view any time, and nothing is hidden from either of you.

What happens to my existing plan when I join?

Joining means giving up a plan of your own, so the app asks first. A plan with real numbers shows "Discard the plan on this account?", spelling out that joining deletes it for good.
