Set up your first plan
The welcome wizard has four steps. The last one is optional.
- Give your answers Fill in one sentence with four blanks: your age, your monthly income, your household's monthly spending, and the age you want to be financially free.
- See your freedom age Read your first projection and the "What we're assuming" card. Edit spending and citizenship there if needed.
- Save your plan Create an account with an email, a password and an optional name. This starts your 14-day trial and saves your answers.
- Sharpen it (optional) Add your ideal life, your savings and your partner's numbers for a closer estimate, or tap "I'm done for now".
The welcome wizard, step by step
Open the app for the first time. The wizard asks four questions in one flowing sentence, shows your first freedom-age projection, then asks you to save it with an account. Before the save step, “Skip for now” jumps ahead to it. The save step itself has no skip: it takes an account. If a plan is already saved, the app first asks “Start a new plan?”
Nothing here is wasted if you stop early. Every answer is saved as you go.
1. Your answers
The wizard opens with “How old are you?”, then builds on the same sentence: your monthly income, your household’s monthly spending, and the age you want to be financially free. Rough figures are fine. Everything is editable later.
The first screen also has a couple toggle (for example “Me + partner”), a date-of-birth field and a freedom-age slider for your target age.
2. Your freedom age
The projection chart appears here, nowhere earlier in the wizard. It shows your computed freedom age against the age you asked for, with a plain verdict of years ahead, behind, on target, or “not by {target} on today’s numbers”.
A “What we’re assuming” card lists every default behind the number:
- invested income,
- working and post-freedom returns,
- inflation,
- income and expense growth,
- your emergency fund,
- and that CPF isn’t counted toward this age at all (it is real money, just not money you can draw on to stop working early).
Spending and citizenship are editable right there. The same step also lets you add a second applicant’s citizenship, salary, bonus cadence, cash and investments. In the example, the defaults read 20% of income invested, 6% return while working, 4% after freedom, and a 6-month emergency fund.
3. Save your plan
Saving your plan takes an account: an email, a password, and an optional name. A line under “Create account” says that by creating one you agree to the Terms and consent to how your data is collected and used, as set out in the Privacy Policy and PDPA notice.
This is also where your 14-day trial starts. No card is needed. Already have an account? Tap “Have an account? Sign in”.
4. Sharpen it (optional)
Once your plan is saved, three quick optional steps offer a closer estimate. Each is also a full screen you can revisit later:
- Your ideal life (about 40 seconds): travel, dining and hobbies on top of everyday living, from a ready-made tier or your own amounts.
- Your savings (about 20 seconds): cash and investments already saved.
- Add your partner’s numbers (about 30 seconds): their income and spending, entered on this plan. This doesn’t link their account. Use “Invite partner” for that.
You then see your updated freedom age, with a note naming which answer moved it.
Skip any or all of it with “I’m done for now”. Come back any time.
The ideal-life step shows two living-expense fields and a “Your retirement target” card, with the 4% rule explained underneath. Lifestyle extras (Travel & holidays, Dining & going out, and Hobbies & leisure) add their own nest egg on top of everyday living, for example “To fund these extras from 55, you’ll also need $781,372”. A combined retirement-target card then breaks a household total into Living and Lifestyle extras rows for each person, and ends with a household total. Your ideal life’s retirement target is about 25 times your yearly need, which is the 4% rule.
Finishing up
The wizard ends on a handoff screen naming your freedom age and confirming your trial, with a shortcut to log your first balances or go straight to Home, where the setup checklist carries you the rest of the way.
The handoff headline reads “Your plan is saved.” (or “Your plan is on this device for now.” if it has not reached your account). Under it: “Freedom at 55. Alex is ready. Check back each month to stay on track.”, with your own age and name, and the line “You have full access for 14 days.” Its buttons are “Log your balances” and “Go to Home”.
The welcome tour
The first time you land on Home, a short tour spotlights a few places in turn: your freedom age, Plan and Tracking, then a closing stop headed “Start here” or “Your next step”. Tap “Next” to move on, or “Skip tour” to leave it. The last stop ends with “Done”. A partner who joins a shared plan gets their own version, pointed at the numbers to check first. To see it again, open Profile and tap “Take the tour” (or “Pick up the tour” if you stopped part-way).
After the tour, Plan, Tracking, Cashflow, Investment and What-if each show a small intro card the first time you visit. Close it or tap its button and it’s gone. It also retires by itself after its third showing.
What’s new
After an update, a “What’s new” sheet opens once, as swipeable cards. Each has a headline and a line of detail, and many have a “Try it” link straight to the feature. The last card has “Done” and “See everything”. The footer shows the release date and version. It waits until the welcome tour is over. To reopen it, tap “What’s new” in Profile.
What does the wizard build into my plan?
Every step writes to the same plan inputs a screen can edit later.
- Lifestyle extras become recurring goals from the year you’re free. Set an amount to $0 and the goal disappears.
- Savings and a partner’s numbers write to the same fields the Profile and Money in and out screens use.
- Your freedom age uses the same 4% rule as the real dashboard throughout. See How the numbers work.
Creating your account
You can walk through the wizard’s first two steps, and see your first projection, before creating an account. Saving your plan past that point takes a free account: creating one starts your 14-day full-access trial, saves your plan, and syncs it across devices. No card is needed. An account is also how a couple shares one household plan, and how you keep more than one.
Sign-in is email and password only, with a toggle between “Create your account” and “Welcome back”. An optional name is shown to a partner or advisor on a shared plan. Leave it blank and others see “Someone” instead of your email. Sign-up is the only place it’s asked. Password resets come from the same sender as your welcome email.
The sign-up subtitle reads “Sync your plan across devices.” and a consent line sits under the button. The sign-in screen has the same Email and Password fields, a “Sign in” button and a “New here? Create an account” link.
Used the previous Perfingo app? The welcome and sign-in screens carry a small note, “Looking for the previous Perfingo app? It’s moved to classic.perfingo.com.” If you already have an account here, tap “I already have an account” on the welcome screen to sign in.
Can I bring a local plan into my account?
Build a plan locally, then sign in for the first time, and the app offers to move it into your account so it syncs everywhere. The offer is headed “Move your plan to your account?” and reads “Your plan is on this device. Move it to your account to see it wherever you sign in.” It comes with three outcomes:
- Migrate it. Tap “Move my plan” and your local plan becomes your account’s plan, with an invite link if it’s set up for a couple. The result dialog reads “Your plan is in your account”, with a “Copy link” button for the invite link.
- The couple-merge case. An account with cloud plan data already, say a partner already claimed a shared plan, opens that plan instead and leaves your local one untouched. The dialog reads “Your account already has a plan” and says “We opened that plan instead. The plan on this device is still there.” Nothing is overwritten. If the move fails, the dialog reads “We couldn’t move your plan” and the app asks again next time you sign in.
- Skip it. “Not now” changes nothing and deletes nothing, and the app asks again next time you sign in.
Invited by a partner?
An invite link, from the migration flow above or from inside the app, opens a claim screen where you can preview what you’re joining first. Already have your own plan? Claiming offers to replace it rather than silently discarding it. The full walkthrough lives on Planning as a couple.
What happens after the wizard?
However you finished the wizard, you land on Home, covered next in Home. An incomplete plan leads with a setup checklist: a few high-leverage items up front, the rest folded under “when you’re ready” until you open it.
The checklist card is titled “Finish your plan”. It is where the wizard’s “later” leads.
Do I need an account to try the wizard?
You can walk through the wizard's first two steps, and see your first projection, before creating an account. Saving your plan past that point takes a free account.
Can I skip the wizard?
Before the save step, "Skip for now" jumps ahead to it. The save step itself has no skip: it takes an account.
How do I see the welcome tour again?
Open Profile and tap "Take the tour", or "Pick up the tour" if you stopped part-way.
How do I reopen "What's new"?
Tap "What's new" in Profile.
