Working in a client's plan

No second front door: you see the same Home your client sees.

Perfingo Guide 4 min read

Short answer

Inside a client's plan you see the same screens the client sees, with a context banner and a save-status footer to keep you oriented. On View only you can model live but nothing saves; on Can edit plan or Full access you can commit a replan with a permanent note.

If the client narrows or removes your access, you find out when you next save or re-open the client.

What do I see when I open a client’s plan?

There is no separate advisor-only layout to learn. Two things on screen keep you oriented:

  • The context banner reads “Viewing {client} · {access level}”, adding “changes aren’t saved” on View only. “All clients” takes you straight back to the list.
  • The save-status footer reads “View only” instead of “Saved” beneath a planning form whenever your seat can’t write to the plan.

Couples: the Us, You and Partner lens

On a plan with two applicants, Cashflow and Investment have a lens at the top: Us, You and Partner. As an advisor you have no seat in the household, so each tab opens on Us, the household view. Pick You or Partner to look at one person’s side. Joint rows carry a “Joint” chip. Each tab keeps its own choice, nothing is saved, and the lens resets when you switch client. On a single-applicant plan there is no lens to show.

No tour for advisors

The welcome tour and the first-visit tab intros are for clients. They don’t start while you’re an advisor or working inside a client’s plan.

Can I model a change live in a meeting?

Yes, on View only. Forms stay open and the chart updates as you type, so you can run “what if you retired at 62 instead of 65?” live in a meeting. Nothing is saved: leave, switch plans, or sign out, and the what-if is gone.

How do I commit a replan with a note?

Committing a replan (Can edit plan or Full access) lets you add a short note, for example “retiring at 62 not 65 because…”. Write the note when you commit the replan. It sticks to that version for good: everyone with access, including the client, can see it, and no one can edit or delete it later. The note becomes part of the plan’s permanent version history.

What happens when a client changes my access mid-session?

A refused write is corrected honestly, not hidden. Your client can narrow your access, turn cashflow sharing off, or remove you entirely at any time, including mid-meeting. The app re-checks your access when you return to it, when you re-open a client, and when a save or replan is refused by the server.

Perfingo does not tell you when a client lowers or revokes your access. There is no email, push or in-app alert. You find out the next time you save, re-open the client or return to the app. The client list always shows your current access.

What happened What you’ll see
Your access was narrowed (for example Can edit plan to View only) mid-session Your next save is refused. The footer flips to “View only” and the banner updates to match.
You tried to delete something you can no longer delete The delete fails with a plain explanation, shown where you attempted it.
Your seat was removed entirely You’re returned to the client list, with a plain explanation.

A save that gets refused

The footer surfaces the failed write immediately. Once the app re-checks, the footer names the real cause.

A delete that gets refused

It is refused inline: as a snackbar on the transaction list, and in the editor you had open on a holding.

Your seat is removed entirely

You’re returned to the client list, with a plain explanation.
